Leah Remini is speaking out about her decision to leave the Church of Scientology.
The actress decided to leave in 2013 after being a part of it since she was a child. Remini has continued to talk about her exit ever since.
"The decision to leave is you're giving up everything you have worked for your whole life," she said during her 20/20 interview. "I feel that people need to understand this has been my whole life and I want them to understand how it happens. As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world. The mindset becomes us against them."
Remini cited one of the reasons for her exit was because she realized she wasn't spending enough time with her young daughter; instead she was studying Scientology scripture. She also revealed her mother did the same to her when she was younger.
"The moment hit me that I was now doing the same thing to my daughter," she said on Oprah Winfrey's "Where Are They Now."
The King of Queens star is getting ready to release her book: Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology on Nov. 3. In it she talks about her journey to "emotional and spiritual freedom," according to Ballantine Books.
The full interview on 20/20 is set to air on Friday at 10 p.m.
