After decades of heavily photoshopped adverts featuring models that have apparently been drawn as much as they have photographed, a new trend is emerging for stars and studios to release images that haven't been subjected to the beautifying touch of the editing suite.
In 2013, so called 'unretouched' photos of Beyonce's shoot for cosmetic producer L'Oreal were leaked online, followed by an apparently unaltered snap of Cindy Crawford from a Marie Claire session.
While both were controversial and neither emanated from the models, cover model Khloe Kardashian took a more active approach, releasing the unretouched version of a picture from her shoot for Complex magazine on Instagram.
Now, everyone's favourite muscle-flexing footballer has apparently joined the nudist (photo) trend. In images to promote his new underwear range, Cristiano Ronaldo appears in only his kecks, warts-and-all.
Except... there aren't any warts to be seen (at least to Telegraph Men'sprobing eye). In the ads for the CR7 Underwear line, Ronaldo is all lean muscle, showing the vigorous lengths footballers put themselves through during pre-season training.
Here's a bunch of sentences that Ronaldo definitely improvised on the spot about his new campaign:
"The new campaign is all about body movement. The product features the lightest and most comfortable materials and has a great fit, no matter how your body moves, so we really wanted to bring this to life.
"The way the product looks is key, but how it fits is equally important.
