LatinLife.com Launches October 1, 2014 in the San Francisco Bay Area
New Website Targets 35 Million U.S.-Born Latinos
SAN FRANCISCO, California-September 30, 2014—LatinLife LLC, a lifestyle media company focused on English-speaking Latinos in the U.S., is pleased to announce the launch LatinLife.com on October 1, 2014. Currently running in beta mode, LatinBayArea.com will cease and become LatinLife.com. The new site will feature extensive original content dedicated to U.S. based Latin American-related events, entertainment, art, food, culture and empowerment.
LatinLife.com is a grassroots website designed to deliver an inspiring, cosmopolitan and culturally relevant platform for users and marketers. It will serve as the premier local events resource, listing 150 to 200 Latino-focused events in the Northern California area per week.
LatinLife.com will soon scale the top 10 U.S. Latino markets as it is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of an emerging dynamic demographic. According to recent studies:
- Fifty-four million Latinos in the U.S. represent over $1.5 trillion in annual expenditures.
- The 2010 U.S. Census reported a dramatic shift in Latino populations. The majority of Latin Americans in the country (62 percent) were born in the U.S. Of this population, almost all speak English.
- Of the 54 million Latinos in the U.S., 65 percent are of Mexican-American heritage. While most of these individuals reside in the Southwest, most Latino network content originates from the East Coast or outside the U.S. The content is primarily in Spanish and not culturally relevant, according to a September 2014 article in Time.
- Sixty percent of U.S. Latinos prefer to consume media and content in English, according to a July 2013 Pew Research Center report.
- Fifty-six percent of U.S. Latinos state that they use the Internet to consume news media on a typical weekday, according to Time.
LatinLife.com will offer a unique experience designed to empower visitors, integrate them with Latin American communities and ground them in local events. Through its new website, LatinLife.com sets out to present relevant, valuable content in a manner that is simple to find, access and share.
